For the past 4 years, we've collaborated with our friends at Giro Sports, who wanted to make the leap from photography to CGI product renderings for their catalog of snow helmets and goggles. It took a month of preparation to become familiar with the product lineups, create custom Excel Sheets to track production and color ways, and sort through hundreds of physical products.
For snow helmets and goggles, we rendered all of their SKUs which are utilized for both print and online catalogues. During Q2, we set up the season’s production pipeline, optimized product CAD silhouettes, modeled missing elements, and created custom color shaders for each angled SKU. We also prepped thousands of decals and graphic files.
It took all hands on deck, but in just 3 months we were able to set up the production pipeline, optimize product CAD silhouettes, model missing elements (including all snowboard helmet liners and ear pads), create custom color shaders and custom rotations for each angled silhouette, texture, light, and rig combo. Whew!
Check out Giro's snowboard product catalogs. Can you tell which are CGI and which are photography? No? How awesome is that?!
