Zap Energy approached us to create a high-end interactive narrative experience to help unveil their advances in fusion energy. The goal was for a heightened product reveal to meet this historic moment in technological advancement. Leaning into an optimistic view of the future, while acknowledging real world challenges, we created a viewer-controlled scrolling visual experience with a conceptual breakdown of Zap Energy’s fusion reactor and its prospective impact from global scale to small community.

We worked closely with our partners at Zap Energy to develop a visual style and storyboards. Leaning into darker tones and bold colors, we created a highly detailed vision of fusion energy use in our near future - from large 3D modeled cities to rural and coastal infrastructure with an emphasis on ecological impact. We built 3D assets, textures, and simulations to create each custom scene. Special attention was paid to proper lighting and atmosphere. Every detail received our utmost attention. Each vignette was animated with viewer-controlled pacing in mind, while being mindful of render performance across many different web browsers and devices. In the end, we created something beautiful and effective.
Zap Energy now has a web-driven interactive presentation that allows them to communicate the incredible impact of their product in a visually spectacular way - highlighting this historic technological advancement for investors, media outlets, and future employees.

This explainer video shows how a Zap core works, using high-fidelity 3D visualization and animation. First, we used particle simulation as gas is pumped into the core. That gas animates into plasma and it travels down the core's shaft. Finally, as the plasma condenses, we see a fusion reaction, ultimately turning it into fusion energy.
Our team custom modeled a 3D fusion reactor facility, complete with a core and glowing plasma. Our 3D visualization and character animation team showed the inside of the core, then as the camera pulls back, we see the team of engineers working in the control room. Further, we see this modular technology in action as it is placed in an urban city environment to illustrate how it will affect consumer's every day lives.
This technical explainer video shows how Z-pinch fusion holds the potential to provide clean, long-lasting energy for humanity. Using 3D visualization, we utilized high-fidelity modeling and particle simulation for the plasma to demonstrate how sheared-flow stabilization can extend the lifetime of a Z-pinched plasma almost indefinitely.
