Combining our live action and VFX capabilities in this spot, our 3D characters, Viv and Strider, kicked off this hit campaign for our friends at ODOT. We had a blast designing and animating these colorfully loud personalities to shed more light onto the importance of standing out as a pedestrian. These characters are the embodiment of safety, and by having them interacting with people, it helped bring their message into reality.
Building on the success of our past videos with Gard and the Oregon Department of Transportation, we decided to again join forces on this 3D animated spot demonstrating the new Stop As Yield Law. Shifting gears into our first fully 3D spot for ODOT, we wanted to create something special for our long-time clients. To do this, we created a realistic, yet stylized, urban environment for our characters to navigate, and we storyboarded sequences that are well-known to many cyclists. Our 3D team designed, modeled, and textured this entire cityscape, closely mimicking the vibrant towns and cities across our home state of Oregon. As for characters, the cyclists were rigged specifically for whatever they were riding, while the pedestrians in the background were rigged uniquely for walking.
Our first of many commercial spots for ODOT and Gard Communications. Park Your Phone plays throughout Oregon in theaters and broadcast, creating awareness to put your phone away before driving. We were tasked to film and bring to life real elements within a driver’s vehicle. We did this practically using wires, green screen, and a puppeteer. Our toy trooper was practically placed for lighting reference. In post we modeled, textured, rigged, and brought him to life. Our 2D team added a nice touch to the trooper by hand drawing his face and lip sync. Filming was shot at Cinerent West within a day thanks to a killer crew and lot’s of pre-production planning!
